under mine were broken, an incendiary bomb fell through the trees in the gardens not 50 feet away, good fortune for if it had struck the low buildings nothing could have saved the entire destruction by fire. I saw the flash, almost-blinding, of that bomb & was mighty thankful. We are having a good run as we left Liverpool at 2.15 P.M. 29th Sept. & this morning at 9.30 passed Nantucket Light altho rough & we have had paddles on lable all the time. I will just add a line before posting on shore.

Manhattan Hotel Oct 7th
We landed this morning much to the disgust of several passengers who thought we ought to have been allowed to land last night as we arrived at Quarantine Station at 9 P.M. I was happy as it is not pleasant getting in so late.

I have had a rush today looking up friends & I believe we may make a start on things tomorrow.
