Additional Endorsements on letter of Capt Rand, dated Matagorda, Texas, May 29th 1866, (R, 12.). (E.B. 72) which was returned endorsed as follows by Gen. Wright, July 6th 1866,

"Respectfully returned to Brvt Maj. Genl Kiddoo. I have no mounted troops available for Matagorda and suggest that calls. for assistance in the locality of Caney be referred to the Bureau Agent at Columbia (a nearer point than Matagorda) where there are ten mounted men at that Post belonging to the Command, I have not infantry men available for garrisoning Matagorda"

Respectfully returned to Capt. Rand, inviting attention to endorsement of Maj. Gen. Wright, Com.d.g Dept. of Texas. It is proper to add that the Post Com.d.r at Columbia is endeavouring to get his Company moved to Matagorda, because it is a healthier locality, and he will probably be successful. This move has been made since the endorsement of Maj. Genl Wright. In case the company should not be moved from Columbia you will have to be governed by the endorsement above referred to,

Kiddoo with the information that as these men belonged to the Company they of course accompanied it to Leona, As already informed, the Agent at Hempstead must apply for whatever assistance he may require to the Com.d.g Officers at Brenham and Millican, Texas"

No troops can be furnished for permanent duty at Bastrop. The best that can be done is for the Agent at that point to call upon the nearest Post Com.dr for any special assistance he may need, as provided in Gen. Orders No 21. from these Hd Qrs"
