Respectfully referred to Capt. W. B. Pease, Houston, Texas, for his information.

Dr. Mintzer is now in Houston for the purpose of reestablishing or moving the Freedmen's Hospital there and if either one of the within mentioned buildings will answer for Hospital purposes it can be used for the same.  If the facts are as stated by Col. DeGress, the buildings will be taken possession of by this Bureau.

Also report why she was placed in jail and inviting his attention to inclosed letter of A.P. Wiley and he will answer the interrogatories contained therein, returning all these papers to these Headquarters with report.

Respectfully returned Capt. S.A. Craig was arrested and confined in jail by the civil authorities for official acts done under orders.  As soon as it was ascertained a detachment of troops was sent and he was released by order of Bvt. Maj. Gen. Griffin, Comdg Dist. of Texas.  He has since been mustered out of service at his own request and has gone North.

He was one of the most efficient officers connected with this Bureau.
