"Respectfully referred to the Comdng Officer Post of Goliad Tex. for a rigid investigation with regard to the "Secret Society" within mentioned, and the alleged murder by members of the same of Mrs. Christian's son. With regard to the property matters, it would appear that they are connected with a time too far back to serve as a claim to Military investigation. Please return these papers"

Which was returned to Lt. A H M Taylor. A.A.A.G. by Maj. P. E. Holcomb, dated Goliad June 28th 1867. with a statement substantially as follows. 

"the son of Mrs. Christian reported to have been murdered by a Secret Society existing in Goliad is alive. The reputation of Mrs Christian is not favorably spoken of"

Which was again endorsed by Lt. A. H. M. Taylor. A.A.A.G. dated Galveston July 9, 1867 - as follows.

"Respectfully returned to 1st Lt. J. T. Kirkman 26" U.S. Infty. A.A.A.G. Bu RF.&AL, inviting attention to accompanying report of  Maj. Holcomb, Commanding posot of Goliad Texas"

Additional endorsement on letter of Catharine Bray dated Corpus Christi Texas May 24 1867 with the following Endorsement by Lt. A. H. M. Taylor. A.A.A.G. dated Galveston July 9, 1867. (B 187)

"Respectfully returned to Hon Mr Dix. S.A.C thro' Office of the Asst Commissioner Bu. R.F&A.L. Galveston. It is thought that you can prevail on the parties to adjust this claim satisfactorily without necessitating any special military interference. The character of your report indicates a disposition to an equitable settlement on the part of Mr Dunn. Your report and views as expressed in the case are fully approved. When you have conducted a final settlement between the parties please return these papers for file here with your action duly notified"
