Taylor. A. H. M.
1st Lt. 17th Infty

Additional endorsement on the letter of W. B. Dewees. dated Columbus. Texas. August. 15, 1868. D. 61.
And was endorsed by Wm H Sinclair, Inspector &c dated Austin. Texas. Aug. 25, 1868. as follows.

Respectfully referred to Bvt Capt. C. S. Roberts A.A.A. Genl
The money referred to is due this man for boarding soldiers on duty with the Sub. Asst. Comr at Columbus. The men's rations were authorized to be commuted. The accounts of the men were sent to Lt A. H. M. Taylor at that time A.C.S at Houston. Texas. He paid the accounts but the checks were lost in the mail, and the amount therefor still stands in the credit of Lieut. Taylor in the National Bank of Galveston, and has for over a year.
I have made every effort in my power to get Dewees paid because he is, as he says a poor man, and the amount is actually due him. If the money cannot be paid him I ask that he be officially notified through your office, as he is constantly writing me and I can do nothing more in the matter.
