Paschal Geo. W.

Endorsement on the letter of Geo. W. Paschal dated. Austin. Texas. Sept. 7. 1868. P. 59.

Headquarters Fifth Military District.
State of Texas. Bureau of R.F&AL.
Austin. Texas. Sept. 11 1868.

Respectfully returned to Judge G. W. Paschal. The communication of J. A. Randle & bro has been referred to N. H. Randlett, Sub. Asst Comr at Bryan City and returned by him endorsed as follows: "That I am interested in the settlement mentioned is utterly false. During the month of June John Scott came to me complaining that he had nothing to eat, and that his employer had no means to furnish him, that his crop was fine &c I advised him to return rather than lose his crop and get along the best he could. Having purchased a bbl of flour for use of my family, which did not prove as recommended. I proposed to let him (John) have the flour at his own price, which he gladly accepted. saying that he would pay me when he received pay for his labor in the year 1867 or when he gathered the present crop. If feeding half starved freedmen gives me an interest in such claims, then I could name a plenty more cases like this, that would not have need help if they had not been swindled out of their just dues,
The parties interested are much nearer Millican than either Bryan, or Brenham.- the freedmen living only three miles from Millican, and from 18 to 20 to Bryan or Brenham. and I would respectfully ask that whoever the case is tried before that it may be held at Millican, in order to save cost to the freedmen who are most interested."

As recommended by Mr Randlett. S.A. Comr the case will be tried at Millican.
