Endorsement on the letter of Bvt. Maj. Geo. Shorkley, dated Clarksville, Texas, Jan. 20, 1869. S. 384.
Which was referred by Lieut. Caziarc, A.D.C. & A.A.A. Gen.

Bureau of R.F. and A.L.
State of Texas.
Austin, Texas, Feb. 26, 1869.

Respectfully returned. While in Clarksville in Sept. 1869, having under my command a detachment of Cavalry, I found it necessary to have my horse shod. I have forgotten the amount of the bill but it was paid, I think by Lieut. Kramer, A.A. Gen. at Mount Pleasant.

In reference to the flour furnished by Mr. Stanley, the hard bread supplied by the A.C.S. at Mount Pleasant (Lieut. Kramer) for September, 1867, was moldy and could not be eaten. One hundred lbs. of flour were borrowed from Mr. Stanley with the understanding that it was to be returned. The hard bread was returned to Mount Pleasant with a statement of my action and a request that the matter be arranged. This was promised.

In reference to the other accounts I know nothing, and the records of this office give no information.
