[[note]]$137.00 Bonds Received Feb 22/18[[/note]]

Mr. Chas. L. Freer,
The Inn,
Great Harrington, Mass.

My dear Mr. Freer:-

Great pressure is being brought to bear on the corporations of Detroit to purchase substantial amounts of the second Liberty Bond issue. This is, of course, as it should be; but Parke, Davis & Company is in a peculiar position owing to the fact that so much of its money is tied up in foreign business and not available for use, and it would be necessary for us to borrow money to take any considerable quantity of the second Liberty Loan.

A number of our larger stockholders have indicated a willingness to take all or a portion of their December 31st dividend in Liberty bonds, and I am writing to ask if this would be agreeable to you. It may be that you have already subscribed for all the bonds you think you should carry. Will you kindly let me know whether you would care to take any of your December 31st dividend in the second Liberty Loan Bonds.

With kindest regards, I am,
Very truly yours,
Frank G Ryan
