Dear Mr. Peters,

It is good to learn from your kind letter of the 20th instant that Mr. Witherspoon prophecies that the catalogue will be ready for early distribution, and I am hoping that the book will receive kind attention from the public.

I am in hope of reaching New York City on either Friday or Saturday morning next, and to be on the ground so as to render whatever assistance I may in getting the show ready for the opening. I shall stop at the Plaza Hotel, as usual, and will cheerfully answer any call that you may make so do not hesitate to let me know if I can help out in any way.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Berenson and Miss Greene have been spending the last three days here. They left for New York last night, wildly enthusiastic about Chinese Art. Fresh converts are falling into line and I trust that our pottery show will add to the number.

I have just learned of your election to Trusteeship in the Metropolitan Museum, and hasten to extend my heartiest congratulations. The field is enormous and I am delighted to know that you are to assist in "steering the ship." Your energy, enthusiasm and persistence will, I am sure, be of great value to the institution, to say nothing of your love for beauty and experience in Far Eastern Art. I know that the work will be more or less difficult but I hope that you will not fail to do whatever you can in the great work. I not only extend congratulations to you but, also, to the Museum.

Believe me,

Yours very sincerely,

Mr. Samuel T. Peters,
Washington Building,

New York, N. Y.
