Dear Doctor Webster:

Returning from an absence of nearly two weeks, I find your good letter of December 13th, and hasten to say, that it will give me great pleasure to receive a visit from yourself, Mrs. Webster, Mr. Gookin and Mr. Buckingham, and to show the collections in my care. The time suggested for the visits, suits my convenience with the exception of one day - as follows: January 1st. I happen to be Chairman of a local club, the Yondotega, which celebrates New Year's Day annually, with a huge mid-day feast for its members. To this affair I must give practically all my time on January 1st, but, it you and your friends will come to me the following morning and give me the pleasure of your company until Monday evening, I shall be delighted, or, perhaps, you can come a week earlier, arriving here Christmas morning or the next morning thereafter, and remain until Sunday or Monday evening. I have no engagements for Christmas, and if you and your party would care to spend that day with me, I would consider it a rare compliment.

I have long desired to meet yourself and Mrs. Webster, and am anticipating much happiness in meeting you
