My dear Professor Kelsey:-

Your kind letter of the 22nd, inst., is received, and fully noted.

The statement of account from Mr. Swain, amounting to one hundred forty nine dollars and thirty-six cents, and bearing the approval of yourself and Mr. Sanders, will be vouchered and paid to-day.

Your courteous invitation to attend the meetings to be held at Toronto next week, is greatly appreciated, but, unfortunately, I cannot spare the time necessary to attend even one day of the session; furthermore, I had a little accident yesterday which is causing me some considerable inconvenience, and my doctor advises me, to keep as quiet as possible for the next week, or ten days.

It was a pleasure to receive Mr. Sanders visit yesterday, and to examine with him the proofs of the various photographs and heliotypes, which he brought for me. I am confident that the experts in this line of work, will find great interest in the exhibition you are to make at Toronto.

Professor Sanders paper, will also attract much attention, I am sure; he kindly read me extracts from the same yesterday
