Dear Sir:- I expected to see you in Detroit on my return home day before yesterday, and to have shown you my Whistler collection at that time. I was surprised to learn that you had left for Chicago before I got home again. Your letter of yesterday written in Chicago, came to me this morning, and, in reply, I wish to say that if you should return to Detroit during your stay in America, I will take pleasure in showing you my collection of Whistler's art.
