Dear Doctor Angell:-

During a recent conversation had with Professor Kelsey, he informed me, that the Cufic biblical manuscripts, purchased by me in Egypt last spring, and which have already been partially examined by Professor Worrell, give evidence of eventually proving of much importance to scholars. Should further investigation verify this, it would give me pleasure to make the manuscripts accessible to certain leading libraries and scholars by publishing fae-simile reproductions of them, as we are now doing of parts of the manuscripts secured in Egypt year before last,

It has been estimated to me, that possibly the University would be willing to duplicate for the Coptic manuscripts earlier secured. Under this agreement, you will remember the University of Michigan does all the expert work necessary, and I provide funds to meet all other expenses.

Should you consider it wise for the University to unite with me in this second movement for the advancement of American scholarship, I shall be pleased to cooperate.

Believe me,
Very sincerely yours,
Charles L. Freer
