Edward A. Hauss, Esq.,
Secretary and Treasurer,
The Alger, Sullivan Lumber Company,
Century, Florida.

My dear Mr. Hauss:-

Replying to your letter of January 23rd. Both Colonel Hecker and myself still continue our accounts with the Guaranty Trust Company, which institution, we believe, to be thoroughly reliable. Mr. Castles tendered his connection with the Company and fortunately bettered himself by the change, but, I don't feel that it is altogether fair in him to try to solicit away from his old company, accounts such as yours, particularly in view of his knowledge that your dealings with the Guaranty Company have been entirely satisfactory. As you have kindly invited my advice I suggest, that for the present, at least, no change in your New York depository be made. The Colonel has a very comfortable account with the Guaranty Trust which will remain untouched during his absence, and after his return, if you feel so inclined, I think it would be wise to consult with him.
