Absence from Detroit, has prevented earlier reply to your inquiry of the 3rd, inst.

It will afford me pleasure to loan the portrait of President Roosevelt, by Gari Melchers, for your forth-coming exhibition which is to open on April 29th.  Would you like it sent directly from Philadelphia immediately after the close of their present exhibition?
