My dear Mr. Caffin:-
Mr. Coburn finished his work yesterday and started homeward at 10:45 last evening, intending to spend to-day at Niagra Falls. He carried with him sixty-one color slides, eleven of which, are of ancient Pottery, Bronze and Lacquer. One contains a panel of a Japanese Screen, a coin chest and a wood box. Another (No.13) shows the very small Whistler pastel entitled, "Resting" with an Egyptian bronze figure on each side; all of the remaining forty-eight slides are of Whistler's work, in oil, water-color and pastel.
I enclose herewith, a list of the titles with a few notations which, in addition to the information entered by yourself in your book when here, will, I think, furnish you with all necessary detail. Should you, however, require any additional facts, don't hesitate to call upon me for them.
The slides, as a whole, will, I believe, delight you; some of them are exceedingly successful - a very small number perhaps, could be slightly improved by further experimenting. I believe, however, that each one of these slides can, by careful manipulation of the lantern project very satisfactory translation of each object.
