Editorial Rooms - The World,
New York City, N. Y.

Dear Mr. Seitz:-
Your kind note of the 1st, inst., also a second letter from Mr. Cobb, are both at hand. I must confess, that I did not at first, quite understand the nature of the information you wish for completing a Bibliography of Whistler. I will gladly do whatever I can to assist you in your commendable work.

My collection of catalogues, etc., of Whistler exhibitions is quite numerous, and within a day or two, I will forward you a list thereof as possibly it may contain information of interest to you. Let me also say, concerning the collection of Whistler's work in my care, no regular catalogue has been issued. I have, however, had privately printed " Inventories " of the Art Collections which I have already presented to the Smithsonian Institution, or the United States Government; these two volumes bear the following titles:
"An Inventory of the collection of Charles L. Freer, presented to the Smithsonian Institution, or the United States Government under the terms of his letter to the President, dated December 14th, 1905."

This volume was issued in 1906.
