ALL CORRESPONDENCE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED TO THE SECRETARY

ASTROPHYSICAL OBSERVATORY

September 14, 1909.

Dear Sir:

Replying to your inquiry of September 8, I regret to say that the Institution has received no paper whatever concerning the case containing the two pieces of pottery to which you refer. Charges to the amount of $.62, (probably for freight from New York to Washington,) were paid by the Institution in addition to the charge of $1.80 for expressage from Washington to Detroit.

I have also your letter of September 10, with reference to the shipment on August 18, by Mr. G. Dattari, Cairo, Egypt, of one box of art objects. This has not yet come in, but as soon as it arrives it will be reshipped to Mr. Freer's house address and you will be duly notified.

Very respectfully yours,
R. Rathbun
Acting Secretary.

Mr. J. M. Kennedy,
915 Union Trust Building,
Detroit, Michigan.
