who will press the bill include Mr. Kitchin, Democratic floor leader; Mr. Lloyd, Democratic whip, and also, fortunately a Smithsonian Regent; and Mr. Doremus who is very strong with is party.

Mr. Walcott has not yet indicated the date of his return, and, so, I am expecting him any time between October 1 and December 1. He has been greatly hindered in his work by cold and snow. If he only realized what a nice warm time we have been having I am sure he would regret having gone away.

I hope this summer in the Berkshires has meant everything to you, and that the autumn will find you in greatly improved health. We will do all we can do heighten your spirits by advancing as rapidly as possible that one greatest project which is facing the Institution, the piecing together of the beautiful building which we have eagerly looked forward to for so long. I wish above all things that you could be here to turn the first spadeful of earth. I have ready the identical spade that performed the same service for the new Museum building.

Believe me, with all best wishes,

Sincerely yours,
R. Rathbun
Acting Secretary.

Mr. Charles L. Freer,
Berkshire Inn,
Great Barrington, Mass.
