SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION
UNITED STATES NATIONAL MUSEUM
WASHINGTON D.C.

OFFICE OF
ASSISTANT SECRETARY,
SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION
IN CHARGE U.S. NATIONAL MUSEUM

November 20, 1917.

Charles L. Freer, Esquire,
The Plaza,
New York City.

Dear Mr. Freer:

It gives me much pleasure to enclose a photograph showing progress on the new building to November 3.

I have heard incidentally that you were recently in Washington with Mr. Platt for a brief visit, and regret I did not learn of your presence in time. I trust you found matters satisfactory. Despite all the adverse conditions here, due to the War, the status of the work upon the building seems to us very propitious.

With best wishes, believe me
Very truly yours,
R Rathbun
Assistant Secretary
in charge of National Museum
