I have a good field to labor in and am willing to go to work with a will, but I feel the necesity of having some further and more definite instruction than those which you have given me

I would respectfully request that you send me some blank contracts or at least a form as I wish to get them up in a shape that should they hereafter be submitted to the Civil authorities these can be no flaw "picked or misconstructions applied by which the parties can be defrauded. I would also like to have your opinion as to what the labor of able bodied hands is worth-- board clothing and medical attendance included.

I shall be very happy if you visit this place soon as you stated you should

Lt. Swingley started from here this morning on his way to Austin he was detained here one day by being sick
