Know all men that I John Cheny of the County of Lavaca in the State of Texas, am held and firmly bound to Lt John T Raper Sub Asst Comr Freedmans Bureau or to his Successor, in the penal sum of one thousand Dollars lawful money of the United States for the payment of which I bind myself my heirs, executors or administrators firmly by these presents.

The condition of this bond is such that whereas Lt John S Raper Sub. Asst Comr. Freedmans Bureau at the Post of Columbus, has this day bound out to me three minor Negro children, who have no Father or Mother [[to wit?]], a boy named Tom, who was fifteen years old on the 15th day of May 1865, a girl named Emeline twelve years old on the 10th day of May 1865, and a girl named Dolly ten years old on the 11th day of December 1865. And in consideration of the said minor children having been bound to me as aforesaid to work and labor honestly and faithfully for me or for my heirs, executors or assigns, only reserving to them Saturday afternoons and Sundays except when it is actually necessary that they should labor thereon, and to execute to the best of their ability all lawful orders or demands made
