The undersigned beg, respectfully, to represent, that Edward M. Glenn - bearer of this document - is a resident of this County and has long been a citizen of our State - that we have known him for many years as an industrious & enterprising cultivator of the soil, & well acquainted with the whole agricultural economy & interest of the State. Sober & of business habits- systematic, & familiar with both the principles & forms of business, capable of comprehending the spirit & policy of order & instructions.

We beg to say, we know of no man in this County better qualified to fill the Office of Superintendant of "Labor Bureau" than our fellow citizen E.M. Glenn, & hope you will appoint him to the same. We also beg to state, that we know he opposed the formation of the "Confederacy by every fair means at his command, & never aided or assisted it, voluntarily, in any way, or at any time.
