General F. Gregory.
Superintendent of Freedman's Bureau:
State of Texas.

General.
I have the honor to apply for a situation of some kind in your department. I am out of employment, having lately returned from the Army after four years service. I have been a clerk over two years in the Military Governor's and other offices in Alexandria, Virginia, and understand military business perfectly. I would be thankful for employment of any kind by which I could earn a livelihood. I have first class recommendations from officers under which I have served, and will forward them if desired. Hoping you will give this early consideration,

I am General,
With much respect,
Your Obedient Servant
Frank G. Haynes.
late of Co "B" 1st Maine Cavalry.
