I formerly belonged to Dr. Crisp. Dr. Crisp told me I was free and said he did not want me or any of the hands to run away. Told me to tell the hands to stay. He said he would give me ten Dollars per month: My wife Betsy Eight Dollars per month - my Daughter Judah Eight Dollars per month. She was nineteen years old at that time. My daughter Laura five dollars per month - Evelina three dollars per month. My son Daniel run away when he was set free and staid about three months and then came back and remained and worked till Christmas. I think he worked about three months and a half for Dr. Crisp. From the day I was set free up to the present day I have received nothing from Dr. Crisp in pay for the work of myself and family performed from the time I was set free up to Christmas of that year. I received for myself one blouse, one pair of pants. one shirt, and one pair of shoes, my wife Betsy daughters Judah and Laura
