Anderson Lee sworn -
I belonged formerly to Dr. John H. Crisp. I was first told by Dr. Crisp I was free the first Sunday subsequent to the day when the Federal troops first arrived in Columbus.

Dr. Crisp told me he would give me ten dollars per month if I would remain till the subsequent Christmas. I drove team. [[strikethrough]] I received [[/strikethrough]] I was told this by Dr. Crisp [[strikethrough]] when [[/strikethrough]] I was first told by him I was free. I received from Dr. Crisp one shirt; one p'r of pants; one pair of shoes and one coat, but no money. This is all I received from Dr. Crisp either from him or any of his family.

I lived with Mayor Hubbard last year. He had a barbecue on the 4th of July and a Federal officer by the name of Major Houston = We were told by the Major if we remained till Christmas we would get our rights. Dr. Crisp told us if we remained and worked till Christmas we would get ten dollars per month from him and our clothes beside =

That is all I know about it. I had no family working there with me.
