Charles Banks Sworn Says.  I formerly was a slave of Dr. John H. Crisp On the Sunday after the troops arrived in Columbus Dr. Crisp told me I was free. He told me he could not do without me and wanted me to stay and work at my business till Christmas and I did so. He told me he would give me ten Dollars per month and all the rest of the men hands on the place that could stay and work till Christmas. He said he could pay my wife Lucinda Eight Dollars per month. My daughters Eliza, Gilla, Nancy, Fanny, Jenny all Eight Dollars per month Each, Harriett four Dollars per month and Charles ten Dollars per month. They all remained and worked till Christmas. I asked him but once for my money and he said he had none. He gave me our clothes extra. I have never received a cent for the work of myself and family of Six hands [[strikethrough]] besides [[/strikethrough]] picked cotton two weeks at seventy five cents per hundred last year, 1866 for Dr. Crisp and he never paid
