Galveston Apr. 23. 1867.

A.J. Evans. Esq
Waco.

Dear Sir _

Yours of 15th inst received and at once handed Genl Griffin for his consideration. He wishes the affidavits of the parties mentioned in your letter to be taken immediately and forwarded here as a basis for the the military seizure, of the property in question until the title can be decided by Courts organized on a loyal basis. Please use dispatch in procuring the affidavits as Genl. Griffin desires to act in the case without unnecessary delay

Your own affidavit to such facts as are within your personal knowledge - would doubtless be of great importance which you will please make as full as possible. Genl Griffin took no offence at anything in your first letter as he did not conceive the language had any application to him.

Yours Respectfully.
A.P. Wiley.
