The Sheriff of Jefferson Co. who accompanied us left us at the Louisiana [[?]] We proceed on to Johnson's Bayou (in Louisiana) to the house occupied by the Dauoho's. We arrived there at six o'clock in the morning. The woman in chg of the house informed us that the Dauoho's had got word we were after them & they left at two o'clock in the night. We waited around all day but could not hear a word or them or see any sign of them being ahead. They no doubt had hid out in the swamp.
