limited by the capacity of the house.  Some portion of the time, for months together, the house has been uncomfortably crowded, & it has been impossible to [[strikethrough]] receive [[/strikethrough]] admit all who applied.  There has been a very great fluctuation in attendance & a constant change.  About 20 have been members of the school nearly or quite from the beginning.  Many have come but once or twice, professed a desire to join the school, had their names registered, taken a "Freedman" paper for reading & left us.  Between these extremes, others have ranged from a month, to six & twelve months in attendance.  The whole number of names, (besides many who come in as visitors for a single evening, & not wishing the join the school) is 431.  The attendance for three months past has averaged about 40, while 115 names have been on our list, within that time, including only those who had before been most constant in attendance.
