I arrived here Sept. 2nd, and commenced operations the following day. I have not been able to get decisive or definite results until the present week, when the different School boards gave me an answer to the propositions I have made to them. I now submit the following report.

Charleston. I got together the Board of Education of this place, offered them $200 on the part of the Bureau, to aid in the building a schoolhouse according to your plan, and proposed to take charge of the whole school, as I was instructed. They replied that there were but $200 left unexpended of the tax levy for building, for 1867, and they should be obliged to issue bonds
