next year, using the little log room which they now occupy for a school, but which will contain - not accommodate - only half of the seventy nine scholars, nearly all of whom would attend school this winter, if there were a suitable house. There are twelve houses for other children in the township, but none for the colored. I have some reason to expect the Board will reverse their decision. [[strikethrough]] do something yet. [[/strikethrough]] I have brought some influence to bear on them, and they now promise to meet & reconsider the matter. They do not wish to lose the offer made, altogether. But one man on the Board may defeat it yet. Mr. Chappel, who offers a plot of ground for the house, promises me his influence, and may yet give some money, rather than have it fail. I am decidedly of the opinion, that no money had better be given to repair that log house, except as a last resort.

I shall try this matter again; and if I can raise another hundred dollars in some way, I think I will succeed in [[strikethrough]] my [[/strikethrough]] getting a school-house.
