You will remember that the memories of many heroes and men of the Revolution and later times are preserved in tablets on the walls of the Chapel, and if it meets your views I would be very glad to authorize a tablet to Mr. Whistler being placed there.

You will laugh at the following which is credited to Mr. Whistler in speaking of his Cadet days:

"If silicon had been a gas, I in all probability would have been an Army officer."

He was found deficient in Chemistry.
