Special Orders.
No 34.

I The verbal instructions given by Brevet Captain S. Roberts U.S.A Acting Assistant Quartermaster and Disbursing Officer, Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands State of Texas, directing 2nd Lieut D. F. Stiles, 26th Infantry Sub. Assistant Commissioner at Waco, Texas, to sell a certain building, late the property of the so called Confederate States, and the sale of the above property in compliance with above instructions, are approved. The proceeds of the sale will be credited to the School Funds.

II. Mr. James P. Butler Agent Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, State of Texas, having tendered his resignation is relieved from further duty in this Bureau. He will receive no final payments until he shall have satisfied the Disbursing officer by proper certificates that he is not indebted to the Government.

III Mr. James Burke Agent Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, State of Texas, is assigned to duty as Sub. Assistant Commissioner for the 19th Sub. District relieving James P. Butler to whom he will receipt for all property pertaining to the Bureau for said Sub. District. Mr. Burke will at once proceed to Huntsville, Texas, and enter upon his duties in accordance with the Acts of Congress and regulations governing. This order to date June 1st 1868.

I Wm. H Sinclair, Inspector, Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, State of Texas will proceed to Bastrop, Texas, on business associated with this Bureau, upon the completion of which he will return to these Headquarters.

II Paragraph III of Special Orders No 34 current series from these Headquarters is hereby revoked.

I Mr. Wm H. Stewart, Agent, Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, State of Texas, is assigned to duty as Sub. Assistant Commissioner for the 19th Sub District with his office at Huntsville. He will at once proceed to his station and enter upon the discharge of the duties of his office.

The Quartermaster Department will furnish the necessary transportation.

II The journey performed by Rev. Joseph Welch, Superintendent of Schools, Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, State of Texas, from Galveston to Austin Texas in rejoining his station, is approved.
