Report of murders, outrages etc, committed against Freedpeople in the County of Walker and others, that have come to the notice of the Sub. Asst. Commr, with action of civil authorities.
1st.. Mr. Philip Sublett of Trinity Co, on or about December 1865, shot and very seriously wounded in the head one Freedman George Stubblefield, case reported here after entering upon duty, several operations performed upon the patient by my direction, bill will amount to about $200.00 carry, not yet presented, will call upon Mr. Sublett to pay, no action ever taken by the civil authorities, reason not known, except that he is a wealthy planter; an unprovoked assault, 
2nd Mr. Frank Wingate of Trinity Co. on or about April 1866, shot and killed Freedman John Robinson, have ascertained from Freedpeople that no action was ever taken by the civil authorities unable to ascertain particulars, 
3rd Mr. George Norris of Walker Co, on or about October 25th 66, shot and painfully wounded in the leg Freedman Samuel Fisher, Norris was acting in the capacity of constable, after the shooting Norris was put through a formal trial by a Justice of the Peace and discharged, he eluded an attempt I made to arrest him and fled to Western Texas,
