the sale of goods wrongfully seized from a Refugee Peter Diller - and obliged the plunderers to settle satisfactorily - mention has been made of this case in other reports.

In the early part of the month Mr. E. Lockett merchant having a little difficulty with Mr. B. Stones another merchant - fired a shotgun across the street wounding Stones probably mortally - he is now under bonds awaiting trial - no other outrage to report.

A small school has been started under a colored teacher at this place - for primary instruction. There is great need of competent white teachers in my District.

I have the honor to refer to previous communication on the subject of neglect to try serious cases by the District Court.

My citizen clerk has been discharged and I have again moved my office on account of fire - which has delayed this months papers.
