sons who would be sent for by a guard, if it could be mounted; as it is the irregular mails, have to be relied upon altogether; by which the parties do not receive notice, untill 7 to 30 days after date. It is impossible to hire, at this season.

I have no Abandoned Lands, to report this month. No Rations issued or required for indigent & destitute Refugees or Freedmen, during the month

The rains have been very heavy and frequent this month, making the roads, most of the time, impassable; about one third of the crop is now destroyed; another week's rain, like the last, should it fall before the 15th of June, will almost totally destroy the crops, on all the good lands; in which case there will be many difficulties between planters & employees. I have been caught in several of these heavy rains, which caused sickness, disqualifying me for duty for several days

In reguard to the people, &c., I could but repeat my last report.

I have the honor to be, Lieut,
Resp'y Your Obdt. Serv't,
P.B. Johnson,
S A. Comr.
