I have the honor to Report the operations of the month of June at this office as follows:
The duties have been particulerly severe requiring more attention than a single person could attend to -- I have availed myself of the services of several enlisted men as assistants in the absence of any clerk or officer.  These have been of great help but lack the discretion necessary for the duty and this help has been discontinued owing to the weather.  There has been comparatively few working days this month and the crops have been in great peril -- unfortunately the registration of of voters commenced at this critical period once the Freedmen flocked to town from all parts of the County and also from other Counties where the registration have not yet commenced. It-has taken all my authority
