Press Brown against A.K. Henry for six months work at ten dollars per month.

Jack Nash against James Raggers for digging a well fifteen dollars. Many other cases of minor importance too tedious to mention.

In all of the foregoing cases I have required the parties to meet at my office for settlement by sending an orderly with a note of the persons complained against. If the parties could not agree in settlement I would ascertain all the facts as near as possible and decide the matter myself.

My office hours are from 8. to 12. A.M. from 2. to 6. P.M. I have been absent from my office four days during the month. Two days in getting a detail from a detachment of the 6th US. Cavalry (passing through the county) to arrest certain parties; the result of which I reported to your office. Two days in visiting some plantations and addressing the freedmen.
