Alex Wilkerson recalled by the State.

On Wednesday - the day after the witness was threatened with hanging Mr. Atkin [[strikethrough]] son [[/strikethrough]] Ward came to the Patterson place with Mr Cowan, also Mr Rawls. - They drew up a new contract & Mr. Potter read it. Mr Cowan told me that I could not go to work in the place under Wilson - the new contract drawn up Mr. Potter said was like the one with Wilson, - Mr Ward Rawls and Cowan all came together, Mr Cowan said as long as Mr Patterson took possession we could work, - he had nothing more to do with it. I signed a new contract on Wednesday, Mr Cowan did not consent for us to go to work till we had signed a new contract.

Cross Examined

When I signed the new contract Wilson, Wash, Alex & Bill had all gone, - I did not hear Mr Cowan say then that if these men would give themselves up we could go on as before working, - I was not told that Wilson was to have any benefit of the Contract if he came back and gave himself up to the laws of the Country
