A great deal of rain has fallen during the month delaying in many cases the proper clearing of the crops. Although there is considerable complaint of grassy cotton, yet I hear of but little land turned out on that account. The tendency with planters here is generally to our crop, an in a rainy season like this it becomes almost impossible to cultivate properly the same number of acres that could be tended with ease in a drier season. The corn crops everywhere are fine and in fact vegetation of all kinds is luxuriant.

I have the honor to remain,
Very respectfully,
