Sir. I have the honor to report that in accordance with circular letter from Head Qts District of Texas Dec 31st 1866
that my duties for the month of June consisted in hearing complaints of freedmen and enforcing compliance with contracts where freedmen were one of the parties.

The freedmen as a general thing are working well and are in good spirits, their prospects for a crop being very fair

The board for the Registration of voters commences its labors here to day. I do not apprehend any difficultly as the citizens generally are anxious to register and become 
voters. I have been absent from my office during the month a part of one day, to settle a difficulty with freedmen on the plantation of Mr Russell some 3 miles from town. The freedmen's school closed on the 28th for the season, the teacher having had orders to do so.

My office hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m
