Pursuant to instructions in a circular letter dated Headquarters B.R.F and A.L. State of Texas, Galveston Texas December 31st 1866. I have the honor to submit the following report for the month of July 1867.

On the 9th of the month, was tried the case (before Thos D. Smith Justice of the Peace for Jefferson County) of a man  named - Cameron (White) and Alexander Johnson (Cold) charged with an affray, both found guilty and fined $10 each with costs. On the 11th before the same Officer, was with the case of William Black and John Calahan charged with an agravated Assault and Battery upon the person of "Sally Ann Burrell" (Freedwoman) In this case the Justice of the Peace decided that the evidence did not sustain the charge and therefore acquited the accused; out of this case has grown a charge
