Cotton, Corn, and potatoes, Cotton is almost a total failure, Corn half a crop, potatoes average, But few work for monthly wages, Remainder for a portion of the crops, ⅓ to ½ wages vary from 8 $ to 15 $ and found women with children get almost nothing.

The Judiciary is so dis-organized that Civil Law is prostrate there has been no application of Either of the above laws, Every Freedman is employed there are no vagrants, and I myself found good homes,  with honest white men, who promise good treatment and mental and moral culture till further orders for all orphans
