CHELSEA.

My dear Mr Freer,
I am sending to you by this mail the Lithographs which you so long ago asked for.

Mr Whistler begs you to forgive him for his long silence. He has been so much occupied, that he has not found a moment for his correspondence, which has grown to enormous dimensions, and which he does not dare face.

He has sent you all the lithographs which are in existence so far, with the exception of the coloured lithographs which are not yet published, in fact, they are the reason of his long silence.

I think when you see them you will think them very beautiful and quite unlike anything of the ["sort" x'ed out] kind which has been hither to attempted.

The proofs of the lithographs are on Dutch and Japanese paper and are L2.2. a proof. Mr Whistler sends you two sets so that you may show Mr Hecker, in case, he may not have all of them.

You may have some of them already, in which case, will you return those you do not want. Have you heard that Mr Whistler Mothers portrait has been bought by the French Government for the Luxembourg? We are delighted.

Will you give our kindest regards to Mrs and Mr Hecker and Miss Hecker

And with our best wishes for this new year to you.
Believe me
Very sincerely

Beatrix Whistler.
