The principal crops raised are corn and cotton.  the freed people generally work for one half the crop, the price per month paid for labor is as follows man (10.00) women & boys 5.00 & 7.00

"Include in your Report the operations of the State laws as applied to freed people, with special reference to the Apprentice Law, Vagrant Law, and Law regulating labor."

The great difficulties I labor are a want of men & horses  I have so few men for duty that it is impossible to make the arrest I desire to, a whole company could be used to advantage
