"Report the disposition and feeling of the white people towards freed people as expressed by words and actions."

The white people are not disposed to do justice to the freedpeople they will do nothing unless they are forced to

EDUCATION.

"Report the feeling upon the subject of education; what steps have been taken to promote the same; what efforts the freed people are making in that direction and in what manner they may be assisted, [[?]]"

The freedpeople are very eager to have their children educated, but have not the means, owing to the failure of this cotton crop. Teachers will have to be paid by the Bureau until next fall if there are any schools kept up in this section. Mr Lindsay has made a total failure in collecting his accounts. they are willing but have not the means to pay with.
