| Aug. 29 | Sam Rutledge (white) Jack Conners | David Risher )Colored) | Some two months previous to this affair, Rutledge being in Austin, drunk, he drew a revolver and threatened to shoot Risher, who promptly knocked him down and took the pistol away from him.  On the 29th AUg. Rutledge again met Risher, drew his revolver and fired at him without effect.  He then escaped in company with one Jack Conners who was aiding and abeting.  The Asst. Sub. A. Comr. with four men of the 6th Cav. went in pursuit, but did not succeed in capturing them.  The party was out five days engaged in the search.  |
