"Report the disposition and feeling of the white people towards the freed people as expressed by words and actions."

The disposition of the white people in this Sub District towards the freedmen have undergone no perceptible change since my last report

EDUCATION.

"Report the feeling upon the subject of education; what steps have been taken to promote the same; what efforts the freed people are making in that direction and in what manner they may be assisted, &c, &c."

The white citizens throw no obstacle in the way of the Freedmen obtaining education but, except in a very few instances have not rendered any material aid. The freedpeople are themselves very anxious to obtain education but have not been able to procure teachers nor has the Sub Asst commissioner been able to do so for them.
