Lieut. Chas Garretson
A.A.A. Gen.
Lieut.
I have the honor to report that there have been but two criminal cases presented this month, they were disposed of by imposing a fine of $60. in each case, as per "monthly statement".
There has been no case presented to the civil authority during the month where freedmen are concerned.
The people generally seem well disposed in this county, towards freedmen. Office hours from 8. a.m. to 5. p.m.
Have been absent four days during the month making an inspection
There are no troops at this post.
I have the sheriff execute all orders and as he is brave and trusty and well acquainted with the county I prefer him to troops. In cases where he makes arrests and the parties are not proven guilty he receives no fees when a penalty is imposed. I compel the party to pay costs for making arrests
